Did anyone see the SciFi Channel's miniseries, Tin Man? I didn't get a chance to watch it when it first debuted but I did record and we just finished watching it. The series gets a BIG thumps up from me. If you haven't seen it and like fantasy and science fiction, you'll like this movie, miniseries.
You can read more about it at SciFi.com. The movie is a modern day retelling of The Wizard of Oz. I didn't really like The Wizard of Oz but I definitely liked Tin Man. The writers, producers, and director have creatively used the images and symbols from the past movie to make this one. You will find the names of cities, people, and objects in the new but sometimes used in a slightly different way. This movie is longer and probably more intricate. I thought is was superbly done, well acted, and had terrific action and drama. The twist is in Dorothy's identity. It is worth your time (6 hours unless you have a commercial skip button). If you saw it let me know what you thought of it.

Thanks for this information and post brother. I hope you have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Didn't get to watch it--having just moved, cable wasn't hooked up yet. I am sure they will run reruns in the summer though!
Peace

Ooh. Wish I had seen (scene?) that. Will be looking for it. It sounds cool.
I hope you had a great Christmas. We all had a good Christmas, we even received a Christmas potato. If you are not familiar with this tradition check the link on my blog.
Happy New Year.
I didn't watch it either. I wasn't sure I would like it but you've got me interested now. Will look for it again.
Happy New Year!
Thanks for stopping by. I hope all of you have a great year in 2008.
Bob,
I hope you had a great New Year's Day and ate plenty of black-eyed-peas! :-).
Have you been watching any of the bowl games? Any predictions? Any of your favorites win?
Brother Bob,
I didn't get to see the series but I wanted to. I'll have to check it out when they sell it at Wal-Mart. How are things with you? Dawn got me a canoe for Christmas so I'm ready to go back to Kirby's Mill. Christian and the girls went camping with us this past year and we had a great time. We missed you all though.
I'm happy that you all seem to be doing well. God is indeed using you there. May he continue to do so.
I hope you all have a wonderful blessed "blissful" 2008.
Love,
Tom
Kinney,
So far the teams I'm rooting for haven't done well. I wanted to see UCLA, Boise State, Arizona State, Florida, Virginia, Illinois, and Hawaii win but alas they did not. I really wanted to see Illinois beat USC, as I'm not a big fan of USC. Fortunately Boston College, Auburn, Oregon, Tennessee, and West Virginia have won. I'm rooting for Virginia Tech (go Hokies!) and OSU to win. I have been a big OSU fan since the 60s. My oldest daughter and son-in-law attend church at the Blacksburg congregation where VT is located so naturally VT has become a favorite. So those are my hopes and dreams for college football this year.
Brother Tom, glad to have you stop by. Yes things are going well here. We love the congregation, the area, and the weather. Did I mention we love the weather? No snow, no shoveling, no sleet, no ice, no ice scrapers, no salt on the roads, and when the temperature dips below freezing, it's usually for a day or two. Then it's back to a summer-like temp.
Can't find light cream around here in the quart size, so I've switched to half & half, cuz it's cheaper.
We went camping (in our tent) November 16-18 at a state park in St. Augustine with several families here for a Family Retreat. First night was 36 but warmer after that.
Lisa and Dan came down the day after Christmas and we went to Sea World while they were here. Did I mention that I love the weather here?
Give our love to Dawn and the kids. We miss you guys. Remember me while you're out fishing at Kirby's Mill.
I saw parts of it. It looked good. I'm not much of a SciFi watcher, but I was at one of the boys cub scout leaders home and someone there was watching it. My first thoughts was that it is very dark initially. Now you have my interest peaked to watch it in it's entirety. Maybe I can do that when the boys are grown. What do you think?
Andrea, yes it is dark but I think that adds to the mystery of the story line. Why wait until the boys are grown?
I don't have 3 or 6 hours (whatever the lenght of the movie is) right now. I'm drowning in raising children, teaching them Godly ways, sports, scouts, music lessons ect...four boys a husband that's out of town more than he's home(oh, and have I ever mentioned "The Laundry"? It's so temendous it deserves capital letters. Don't let anyone tell you only girls change clothes frequently.) One day they'll be grown and I won't have any socks to match, or shuttling to do...
Andrea, I thought maybe you didn't want to watch it because you didn't want the boys to see it. I can understand your not having time. God bless.
